The
third annual ACS Strategic Planning Swap will be held on Friday, May
14, 2010.
ACS is hosting a meeting of Executive Directors or Representatives of

bring industry groups together to assist ACS in identifying
industry priorities. This will assist ACS in its funding
decisions and program development.
- To
better understand each industry's priorities and identify

Success story:
International Wheat Quality Conference IV
|
|
The International Wheat Quality
Conference IV (IWQC), held June 2-6, 2009, was a premier scientific
event devoted to discussing various aspects of wheat grain quality.
This conference, held every four years, was held outside of
Manhattan, Kansas for the first time in its history, moving to
Saskatoon. The IWQC brought international experts in various aspects
of wheat quality, addressing topics including basic genomics,
structure elucidation, marketing and food safety.
The IWQC, which received adaptation funding through Agriculture and
Agri-Food Canada, provided an opportunity to showcase Saskatchewan
and Canada's expertise in wheat grain quality. The conference was a
unique opportunity for grain industry representatives to meet with
scientists to discover future research and product development
opportunities in China, India, Europe, Australia and the United
States.
Young scientists and graduate students from Canada had an opportunity
to meet and discuss results with leading experts on grain quality
research. This exposure to international science and market trends
will inspire Canadian researchers, young scientists and graduate
students, including those at the University of Saskatchewan's
Department of Plant Sciences, to build on the developed
collaborations and keep the Canadian grain industry competitive in the
world markets.

production economics; human resources; finance; environment;
succession planning; business structure; and risk management.
The Centre for Agribusiness Training and Education (CATE) website is
continually adding FBDI courses. Currently there are approximately
140 courses registered with FBDI. In March, there were 9,946 visits
