Pillar One: Industry-Led Sollutions to Emerging Issues

Pillar I focuses on industry-led projects that test new ideas and approaches. Funding is intended to assist the agriculture and agri-food sector in responding to current and emerging issues, and capturing new opportunities through collaborative projects.

Eligible funding requests include:

• Testing and development of new ideas and approaches to respond to current and emerging issues.
• Development of new value-added products and processes.
• Projects that complement and/or crosscut elements of the Agricultural Policy Framework (APF): Environment, Food Safety and Quality, Science and Innovation and Renewal.

Funding: For industry organizations, whose projects demonstrate significant benefits to the sector, funding under Pillar I will not normally exceed 70% of eligible costs. For an individual firm, funding will not normally exceed 50% of eligible costs. The maximum funding under Pillar I is $500,000.

Note: Funding for applied research projects must represent an emerging issue that is recognized as an industry priority. Results must be shared broadly among stakeholders.
